Bear Valley is a residential community and ski area located in the California Sierra
south of Lake Tahoe and north of Yosemite. Bear Valley Residents, Inc. is a non-profit
organization formed for the benefit of Bear Valley property owners and to administer the
Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions of the New Subdivision. BVRI owns and maintains
two beaches at Bear Lake, publishes a periodic newsletter for members, and represents the
interests of Bear Valley residents on a variety of community and local governmental
issues.

The BVRI Board will hold a meeting on Saturday, January 21,
4pm, at the County Services Building. Phone-in participation is available.

At the request of members, we are starting a Frequently Asked
Questions feature. Click here to see. It is modest at
the moment, and we anticipate that it will grow as people send more
questions of general interest.

The BV Water District Board voted to send the County a letter
on sewer capacity which, it is hoped, will allow the completion of the
Environmental Impact Report process.

The Bear Valley School is closed until further notice, due to declining enrollment.

A proposal to transfer part ownership of the Lake Alpine
Water Company has been filed with the California Public Utility Commission.

BVRI Board voted to send a letter to the CPUC,
supporting the current owners and opposing a change in ownership. A protest
was filed against the transfer. The CPUC has set a hearing on the matter for
April 26, 2012.

The CPUC is considering how to refund a ratepayer
overpayment, whether by a lump sum or by credit toward future rate payments.

A scholarship fund has been set up in Bruce Orvis's name at the

The village development is still alive. At their regular
meeting of January 17, the Bear Valley Water District Board assured the Bear
Valley Village Partners that they will work with the Partners to solve the
sewer capacity issue. The goal is to come up with a plan to insert into the
BVVP Environmental Impact Report. County Planner Brian Peters says the plan
has to be specific enough to allow public comment on impacts, but not
necessarily delineated down to the last detail.

Alpine County Director of Public Works Brian Peters made a
presentation on long range financial planning for county roads at the CSA
meeting on September 15. County revenues, especially timber receipts, are
declining and we need to start planning for the future. Here's the link to

available for group or private functions if certain conditions are met. Click
