Minutes of the January 22, 2000 BVRI Board of Directors Meeting
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by President Marilyn Ruch at 4:00 P.M. at the Community Services Building Conference Room at Bear Valley, California.
ROLL CALL
Present: Ruch, Woodrow, Korn, Jung, Schulz, Zawacki, Sibley
Absent: Conrad, Protell, McMullen, McCoy
Absent with proxies submitted: Littlejohn, Shuck, Smith
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Board approved the minutes of the October, 17,2000 board meeting
Board approved the minutes of the February 23, 1999 General Meeting
Presidents report
President Ruch asked if the board should BVRI donate more $ to Bear Valley Music Festival considering BVRI donated $500 in 1999 toward the 2000 festival? Will be considered at the April 15 board meeting.
President Ruch to effect election of BVRI officers by mail subsequent to board member election.
President Ruch announced the resignation of Kendra McCoy as a BVRI board member.
The board to consider the development of a BVRI web site. Director Schulz authorized to follow-up. Will perform preliminary study to determine feasibility, cost estimates, content options and alternatives. Directors Jung and Korn volunteered to help. Director Jung suggested BVRI consider using Goldrush, a local company, for the web site hosting service but warned Goldrush has serious capacity problems. Director Korn to register the domain name "bvri.org" for use in the event the board elects to continue with an effort to develop a BVRI web site.
TREASURERS REPORT
Treasurers report accepted. The report is available on request.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
ARC report presented by Director Woodrow. The report is available on request.
NEWSLETTER
The newsletter and election of board member ballots will be distributed within the next two weeks.
CSA
Bear Valley now has a Fast Attack machine capable of effectively responding to home fire and other emergencies in the snow.
Alpine County rejected a request for a permanent winter access between the "Old" and "New" villages.
Alpine County has ordered a limited number of new street signs.
FIRE PROTECTION
the recommendation of the fire protection study committee was submitted to Alpine County Sheriff Skip Veatch.
BVRI MEMBERSHIP USE OF THE LODGE POOL
The owners of The Lodge has conditionally agreed to allow BVRI members to use The Lodge pool this summer on a trial basis. BVRI members must reimburse The Lodge for the cost of a lifeguard (a requirement of The lodges liability insurance carrier). BVRI must develop an acceptable implementation plan that will detail rules, procedures and conditions of use. Director Sibley volunteered to head this effort.
BVRI MEMBERSHIP DUES INCREASE
The board voted to increase membership dues from $50/year to $60/year effective with the 2000 season.
FOURTH OF JULY PICNIC
The BVRI Picnic and Barbecue will take place during the 4th of July weekend this year.
(It had recently been held on a weekend later in the summer to avoid conflict with the High Sierra Music Festival but, this is no longer a consideration.)
BVRI BY LAWS UPDATES
Director Shuck has submitted revisions to the BVRI attorney.
