BEAR VALLEY RESIDENTS INC.

Minutes, Board Meeting 7-6-02

Dave Morley presiding

Attending: Brian Neth, Bill Webb, Jack Wedgwood, Milt Jones, Leslie Peterson, Don Thorson, Gary Willard, Terry Woodrow, Jim Blake, Paul Petersen, Gloria English, Sue Garratt, Eric Jung

Minutes: Webb move, Neth 2nd to approve minutes for Bd. mtg. 5-25-02; unanimous

Treasurer’s Report: Neth said BVRI has $46,000 in the bank, $16,000 in reserves, after paying for the raft and scholarships. He will turn the $2,359 tennis reserve back into the general fund. We are even with last year’s dues. The picnic raised $970 for the Bear Valley Search & Rescue. At Morley’s suggestion, the Board added $30 to make it an even $1,000. Receipts for food and beverage came to $2,685. There were 250 attendees. Next year we will buy food for 300, and sell off any surplus.

BV Music Festival: Willard move, Webb 2nd to donate $1,000 to the Bear Valley Music Festival; unanimous.

Wedgwood move, Thorson 2nd, to accept the Treasurer’s Report; unanimous.

Morley said thanks are due to all who helped with the picnic, especially Brian Neth and Bill Webb. Next year’s picnic will be 4pm, July 4. The consensus was to have entertainment but not fireworks.

Snowmobile Storage: Morley said he sent out 34 letters for violations of the CC&R’s on snowmobile storage. Some people have already complied. Willard praised the camouflage covers used by the Sibleys. After another audit, he will send out a second letter, thanking those who complied and reminding violators. The letter will go out around July 18, asking that violations be fixed by August 1. If it’s not fixed by then, the next step is a letter from an attorney.

Addresses: The letter to be sent to homeowners about fire safety inspections will include a reminder on the county ordinance requiring posting of addresses at all homes, in numerals at least 4 inches high.

Snowmobiles: Don Thorson and Gary Willard will discuss the snowmobile situation and come back to the Board with recommendations.

Boat Storage: Some boat/trailer storage in the subdivision may be in violation of the CC&R’s, and some parking could interfere with emergency vehicle access. Leonard Turnbeaugh has suggested that the community rent fencing and set up a trailer storage area in one of the downtown parking lots. Willard will talk to Turnbeaugh about it, and neth will investigate insurance issues related to such a storage area.

Signs: The Board discussed signs posted at the street on Schimke Road.

Blake move, Garratt 2nd, to go to the community Sign Committee and ask for enforcement action against the Schimke Road signs. Peterson & Jung, opposed, Thorson abstain; all others in favor. Motion passed.

BVRI Database: The consensus was that the BVRI database is private, and shall not be released for non-BVRI use.

Beach: Garratt said a visa problem with Mike Hendry will likely prevent him from continuing to work as our beach attendant. It will cost about $75 each to post more signs at the beach publicizing the prohibition of dogs at the lake.

ARC: Woodrow reported 4 new homes going up, 2 more about to start, and about 3 more house plans expected. There was a discussion on the similarity of houses on Cub Lane.

Tennis Survey: Jung reported that 178 surveys were returned. A majority of respondents support the concept, but only 16 people volunteered to pay and 24 people volunteered to work on the project.

Jung move, Garratt 2nd, to turn over the list of supporters to those supporters, and let them work on the tennis court project. Unanimous.

Pool: Morley announced he has negotiated successfully for Lodge pool use by BVRI members this summer. The Board thanked him.

Fire Prevention: Neth said the letter to homeowners will go out next week, including a reminder about posting addresses. Woodrow said by next year we may have a Firesafe Council to work on this.

Newsletter: The next newsletter should go out in late July.

Next Meeting: October 12, 4pm, County Services Building
