WINTER 2001 BVRI NEWSLETTER

Editor: Bill Webb

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Now is the time to renew your membership in BVRI or join anew if you are not now a member. The benefits you receive by supporting your resident’s association are outlined below. I would strongly encourage you to join BVRI and to vote for new board members.

I would also encourage you to become an active member of the association by:

· looking at our web site from time to time in order to obtain current information
· cleaning up the area around your home during the summer months in order to reduce the fire danger to you and your neighbors
· attending the picnic and general meeting during the weekend of August 25th
· and/or bringing issues to the board either via email, letter, or in person at a board meeting

BVRI is your organization and the board is here for you. BVRI is, though, a volunteer organization and if you are passionate about a certain issue, you may be asked to serve on a committee on that issue. Get involved – BVRI is only as strong as its members!

Dave Morley, President

Bear Valley Music Festival – The Bear Valley Music Festival enters its 33rd season with a very talented new Executive Director. Don Bean has had a long and successful career as a music and event promoter, fundraiser, and marketing expert. His first major coup was landing the great Glen Campbell for this year’s Opening Night.
Carter Nice returns as our classical Music Director, bringing with him the exceptionally high quality members of the Bear Valley Festival Orchestra. This year’s opera is Tosca with, as Carter says, plenty of sex and violence, classical style ( and wonderful music of course!)
The Festival runs from July 28 through August 12. The Festival always needs help in the form of donations, volunteers, and especially housing for musicians. If you’d like to "Adopt –A-Musician", help with a donation, volunteer to work during the Festival, or buy tickets, please call the Festival office at 209-753-2574.

Architectural Review Committee – Chairman Ron Murphy reminds homeowners in the "new" subdivisions of Bear Valley (tracts1-7,9) are reminded that any alteration to the exterior of their homes requires ARC approval prior to implementation. (Some require Alpine County Building Department approval) This includes reroof, repaint/restain, tree removal, landscaping, remodel---anything that changes the exterior appearance of the property. Your Architectural Review Committee consists of Ron Murphy(Chair), Terry Woodrow, Robin LaRoy, Clem Soga and Gary Willard. Contact any of them direct with any questions or email them through the BVRI web site (www.bvri.org).
